Building belonging in the design department

With 120+ designers spread over 8 Klarna offices, it’s not always possible to bring everyone together physically and that was causing our internal ratings on “belonging” within the competence to dip significantly.

The Task

Our 4 person organizational team was tasked with developing an agenda for the annual virtual design competence day. Beyond just company updates we needed to create moments for designers to feel connected with others across offices and develop a stronger sense of unity within the design department.

My Responsibilities

Over the course of two months, I contributed to the script writing, development of engagement activities and coordination of in-person touchpoints. After many run-throughs, and tech rehearsals I then co-hosted the 4 hour live-streamed event alongside my colleague Francesco Cutulo.

⚡️ Results

77% positive rating by participants with 89% reported feeling more connected with the design competence.

80% of participants rated the energy boosters (organized and lead by me and my co-host) as “very valuable.”
