Amplifying women’s voices in the workplace
In early 2023, internal engagement surveys found that women within the company were scoring lower then men in the areas of professional development and promotion. As a result, a bottoms-up D&I workstream was formed with a focus on creating and sustaining an inclusive culture in the Card & Banking domain (the department I was a part of).
The Task
Highlighting and addressing the lived experience of women within the organization, with the goal of increasing shared knowledge and pushing towards greater gender equity.
🐌 Main Challenge
True inclusion and equality cannot be solved with one or two siloed changes or occasional events. As a team we knew that our initiatives wouldn’t solve the gender disparity overnight but with a “start small, learn fast” mindset we wanted to get the conversations started and build from there.
My Responsibilities
Develop identity and Slack posts for internal communication
Recruit and prep guests for panels
Determine topics and develop script
Host and facilitate conversation during the panels
⚡️ Results
The team has planned and organized three hybrid panels (virtual with in-person meetups) with 12 women leaders within the organization, reaching an audience of 80+ per session.
